Solana news: Hyperliquid Launches HIP-4: Prediction Markets Integrated with Trading Ecosystem

Hyperliquid Integrates Prediction Markets with HIP-4
Hyperliquid has launched HIP-4, a protocol upgrade that brings outcome-based prediction markets directly into its trading ecosystem. This feature, live on mainnet since early May 2026, allows users to place bets on specific events using fully collateralised contracts that settle between 0 and 1. All trading activity remains within the Hyperliquid platform, eliminating the need for separate accounts or fund transfers.
How HIP-4 Works
HIP-4 introduces binary and bounded outcome contracts, each representing a specific event. Traders buy closer to 1 if they believe the event will occur, or closer to 0 if not. Unlike leveraged products, these contracts require full collateral upfront, removing liquidation risk. Settlement occurs in USDH, Hyperliquid’s native stablecoin.
- First market: daily binary outcome on BTC mark price
- Contracts settle every day at 06:00 UTC
- Supports multi-outcome and date-sensitive markets
Unified Trading Experience
HIP-4 integrates with Hyperliquid’s portfolio margin system and HyperEVM, enabling traders to manage spot, perpetuals, and outcome contracts from a single account. This unified approach offers capital efficiency, as unrealised profits from one product can be used as collateral for another.
Market Impact and Relevance
The upgrade positions Hyperliquid as a direct competitor to standalone prediction platforms like Polymarket by offering all trading products in one place. For HYPE token holders, increased product diversity could drive higher trading volumes and protocol fees. The no-liquidation design may attract traders seeking event-driven exposure without leverage risks.
Why This Matters for Solana and the UK
While Hyperliquid is not built on Solana, the integration of prediction markets into a unified trading platform reflects a broader DeFi trend relevant to Solana’s ecosystem. Solana-based protocols and UK traders may look to similar innovations for capital efficiency and user experience. As regulatory clarity around prediction markets evolves in the UK, such developments could influence future Solana DeFi projects and adoption strategies.
