Orca Launches Permissioned RWA Trading Infrastructure with Streamex on Solana

Orca Unveils Permissioned RWA Pools on Solana

On 27 May, Orca, a leading decentralised exchange (DEX) on Solana, launched permissioned pools in collaboration with Streamex. This new infrastructure is designed to support regulated real-world asset (RWA) trading, enabling compliance-gated liquidity for assets such as tokenised gold.

How Permissioned Pools Work

Orca's permissioned pools use Solana token extensions to ensure regulated tokens are frozen at launch. Only wallets that pass issuer verification can hold or transfer these assets. An on-chain access control layer synchronises Know Your Customer (KYC) status in real time, allowing only eligible investors to trade.

Liquidity is managed through audited smart contracts, and the trading interface displays compliance indicators and KYC status, helping investors understand their eligibility for specific assets.

Streamex and the $GLDY Token

Streamex is the first issuer to use this framework, launching the $GLDY token—a gold-backed, yield-bearing security targeting up to 4% annual yield. The token is available to accredited investors under Rule 506(c), with Streamex maintaining the investor whitelist and sharing protocol fees with Orca.

Market Context and UK Relevance

The launch comes as Solana's RWA market surpasses $2.58 billion (excluding stablecoins), with over 220,000 wallets holding RWAs. Growth is led by tokenised equities and gold, reflecting rising institutional and retail interest in compliant digital assets.

For UK investors and builders, Orca's permissioned pools offer a compliant route to access and trade regulated assets on Solana. This aligns with the UK's evolving regulatory landscape and growing demand for secure, transparent digital asset markets.

Why This Matters

  • Enables regulated asset trading on Solana, supporting UK compliance needs.
  • Provides infrastructure for tokenised securities, including gold and equities.
  • Opens new opportunities for UK-based issuers and investors in the RWA sector.
