Solana news: Bitwise Allocates Hyperliquid ETF Fees to HYPE Token Holdings

Bitwise to Hold HYPE Tokens from ETF Fees
Bitwise Asset Management has announced it will allocate a portion of management fees from its recently launched Hyperliquid ETF (BHYP) to acquire HYPE tokens. The company stated that 10% of the ETF's management fee will be used to hold HYPE on its balance sheet.
Support for Hyperliquid's Community Model
Bitwise highlighted Hyperliquid's approach, where approximately 99% of the blockchain's revenue is used to buy back and burn HYPE tokens. This model aims to benefit the community and support the token's value. Bitwise's decision aligns with this philosophy by holding and staking HYPE tokens acquired through ETF fees.
ETF Launch and Market Context
The Bitwise Hyperliquid ETF, trading under the ticker BHYP, debuted on the New York Stock Exchange. The fund offers investors indirect exposure to HYPE and staking rewards. Bitwise confirmed it will stake the HYPE tokens held on its balance sheet.
Hyperliquid's Market Position
Hyperliquid has become a leading on-chain trading platform, especially for perpetual futures. Recent data indicates the network generated nearly 40% of all blockchain fees last week, surpassing Ethereum and Solana. The HYPE token has doubled in price in 2026, reaching over $44 and entering the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation, excluding stablecoins.
ETF Competition and Flows
Bitwise was the first asset manager to file for a U.S. Hyperliquid ETF, but 21Shares launched its THYP ETF first. The 21Shares fund has recorded around $10.5 million in net inflows. Volume data for Bitwise's BHYP ETF has not yet been reported.
