Solana news: Clarity Act Could Trigger Major Bitcoin Rally, Says Investor
Institutional Investment and the Clarity Act
Financial adviser Ric Edelman recently discussed the potential impact of the Clarity Act on Bitcoin's price during an appearance on the Milk Road podcast. Edelman argues that regulatory uncertainty has kept many traditional financial firms on the sidelines. He believes that once the Clarity Act is passed, large brokerages and wealth managers will be able to invest in Bitcoin more freely.
Edelman points to Morgan Stanley, which manages approximately $7 trillion in client assets. If just 3% of these assets were allocated to Bitcoin, the resulting demand could significantly affect the market. He describes this as a potential "flywheel effect," where rising prices attract more investors, further driving up prices.
Potential Price Targets and Market Dynamics
Edelman suggests that this influx of institutional money could push Bitcoin's price above $150,000 before the end of 2026. He also maintains a longer-term target of $500,000 per Bitcoin by the end of the decade. According to Edelman, the cycle of increasing prices and investor interest could create a rally unlike previous market movements.
Changing Portfolio Strategies
Edelman also addresses the shift in retirement investing strategies. Traditionally, a 60/40 portfolio split between stocks and bonds was recommended. However, with increasing life expectancies, he suggests an 80/20 model, with 80% in equities and growth assets. Within this allocation, he recommends at least 10% exposure to cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
Edelman notes that some investors prefer a market-cap weighted approach, allocating more to Bitcoin but also holding positions in other assets. Others seek exposure through companies involved in the crypto sector, such as Coinbase and Robinhood.
Solana's Role in Diversified Portfolios
While Bitcoin remains the primary focus for institutional investors, Edelman acknowledges the growing role of other cryptocurrencies like Solana. As the market matures, diversified exposure to multiple assets is becoming more common among both institutional and retail investors.
