Solana news: Pi Network Launches SLICE Test Token Amid PI Price Lows

Pi Network Launches SLICE Test Token
The Pi Network Core Team has launched a new testnet token, SLICE, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the Pi Launchpad. This move comes while the native PI token remains under significant market pressure, trading near all-time lows.
Purpose of the SLICE Test Token
SLICE is the second test token introduced on the Pi Launchpad, following feedback from nearly 480,000 users during the first test phase. The new token aims to simplify participation, refine user experience, and further test the Launchpad's updated mechanics. SLICE will remain available for testing until Pi2Day on 28 June. Importantly, SLICE is strictly a testnet asset and will not be launched on the mainnet.
PI Token Price Performance
Despite ongoing product development, the PI token has experienced a sharp decline, reaching a new all-time low below $0.12 in early June. Although there has been a modest recovery, the token remains significantly below its previous highs, reflecting broader market challenges.
Why This Matters for Solana and the UK
The Pi Network's approach to community-driven testnet launches highlights the importance of user feedback and iterative development, trends also seen in the Solana ecosystem. UK developers and blockchain enthusiasts can draw lessons from these practices, particularly as Solana projects increasingly focus on robust testnet environments and community engagement. Monitoring such developments can inform best practices for UK-based teams building on Solana or similar platforms.
