Revolut Eyes US IPO Within Two Years, Citing Valuation and Liquidity

Revolut's IPO Timeline and Listing Preference

Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky has indicated that the digital bank's initial public offering (IPO) is expected in approximately two years. This slightly accelerates previous guidance, which suggested a listing was two to three years away and not a near-term priority. Storonsky reaffirmed a preference for a US listing, citing greater liquidity, higher valuation multiples for technology companies, and the UK's 0.5% stamp duty reserve tax as key factors.

Key Regulatory Milestones

Two significant regulatory milestones have been achieved. In March 2026, Revolut secured a full UK banking licence from the Prudential Regulation Authority, following an 18-month mobilisation phase. This licence brings UK customers under Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection and enables consumer credit products. In the same month, Revolut filed for a US national bank charter and appointed a dedicated US chief executive.

Financial Performance and Valuation

Revolut reported USD 4 billion in revenue and USD 1.4 billion in pre-tax profit for 2024, reflecting strong year-on-year growth. Management projects USD 9 billion in revenue and USD 3.5 billion in net profit for 2026. The company serves over 70 million customers in more than 100 countries and holds banking licences in Lithuania, the UK, and Mexico.

A secondary share sale in November 2025 valued Revolut at USD 75 billion. Reports suggest a further secondary sale in 2026 could push the valuation above USD 100 billion, with an IPO target of at least USD 150 billion.

London Listing Unlikely

Despite efforts by the UK government, including a three-year stamp duty exemption for new listings, analysts view a primary London listing as unlikely. Revolut's management continues to favour the US market for its IPO.

  • IPO expected in two years
  • US listing preferred over London
  • Strong financial growth and global expansion
