Solana news: Forward Industries Deposits $32 Million in SOL to Coinbase Amid Market Downturn

Forward Industries Moves $32 Million in SOL to Coinbase
Forward Industries, known as the largest corporate holder of Solana (SOL), has deposited 455,784 SOL—valued at approximately $31.87 million—into Coinbase Prime. This marks the company's first major treasury activity in a month, prompting speculation about a possible sale of assets.
Significant Losses on Solana Holdings
Forward Industries began its Solana treasury strategy in September 2025, acquiring 6.83 million SOL at an average price of $232.08 per token, totalling roughly $1.59 billion. With Solana's current price around $66, the holdings are now valued at about $451 million, reflecting a paper loss exceeding $1.1 billion.
The company reported a net loss of $283.1 million for the quarter ending 31 March 2026, primarily due to the decline in SOL's fair value. Forward Industries clarified that these losses are non-cash and do not affect its liquidity position.
Context: Corporate Crypto Strategies Under Pressure
The deposit comes amid a broader trend of corporate treasury adjustments in the digital asset sector. Since the October market downturn, several firms have reduced their crypto exposure. For example, Sequans Communications sold 970 Bitcoin in November 2025, and public Bitcoin miners have also liquidated significant holdings.
While Forward Industries has not confirmed any intent to sell, exchange deposits often precede asset sales. The move may also represent routine staking or custody management.
Why This Matters for the UK Solana Ecosystem
Institutional strategies like Forward Industries' are closely watched by UK investors, builders, and regulators. The handling of large-scale treasury positions can influence market sentiment and inform risk management practices for UK-based firms considering or holding Solana assets. As London continues to develop its digital asset regulatory framework, such high-profile moves provide valuable case studies for the local ecosystem.
